How to Make a Ninja Star with Money
Creating a ninja star, also known as a shuriken, can be a fun and rewarding project. Not only does it serve as a unique conversation starter, but it can also be a practical tool for self-defense. In this guide, I’ll walk you through the process of making a ninja star using money as a primary material. Let’s dive in!
Materials Needed
Before you start, gather the following materials:
- Money (any denomination, but larger bills work best)
- Scissors
- Glue or tape
- String or thread
- A ruler
- A pencil
Step 1: Prepare the Money
Start by selecting the money you’ll be using. Larger bills, such as $20 or $50, provide a better surface area for your ninja star. Lay the bill flat on a table and fold it in half lengthwise. Then, fold it in half again, creating a crease down the center. Unfold the bill and you’ll have a crease running through the middle.
Step 2: Cut the Money
Using your scissors, cut the bill along the center crease. You should now have two equal halves. Fold each half in half lengthwise, creating a crease. Unfold the bill and you’ll have a crease running through the middle of each half.
Step 3: Create the Points
Take one of the halves and fold it in half lengthwise, creating a crease. Fold the bill in half again, creating a crease perpendicular to the first crease. This will form a triangle. Repeat this process with the other half.
Now, fold the triangle in half, creating a crease. Unfold the triangle and you’ll have a crease running through the middle of the triangle. Fold the triangle in half again, creating a crease perpendicular to the first crease. Repeat this process with the other triangle.
Step 4: Cut the Points
Using your scissors, cut the tips of the triangles, creating a point. Repeat this process with the other triangle. You should now have two pointed shapes.
Step 5: Attach the Points
Take one of the pointed shapes and fold it in half, creating a crease. Apply glue or tape to the back of the shape and attach it to the other pointed shape. Make sure the points are aligned and the shapes are securely attached.
Step 6: Create the Center
Take a piece of string or thread and tie it into a loop. Place the loop in the center of the ninja star and secure it with glue or tape. This will serve as the handle for your ninja star.
Step 7: Adjust and Refine
Inspect your ninja star and make any necessary adjustments. Ensure the points are even and the center is securely attached. Trim any excess string or thread.
Step 8: Test Your Ninja Star
Once you’re satisfied with your ninja star, test it out. Hold the handle and throw the star, aiming for a target. You may need to adjust the shape or center to improve its accuracy and stability.
